HOW REMICADE® IS GIVEN

REMICADE® is given through a needle placed in a vein (IV or intravenous infusion) in your child's arm.

REMICADE® infusion is given by a

3 starter doses
at Weeks 0, 2, and 6

After starter doses, 1 maintenance
dose is infused every 8 weeks

PREPARING FOR YOUR CHILD'S REMICADE® INFUSION

Your child's doctor’s office or infusion center will schedule his or her appointments. If you need to reschedule an appointment, call your child's doctor’s office or infusion provider.

BEFORE YOUR CHILD ARRIVES

DRINK UP!

It's a good idea for your child to be well hydrated before the infusion.

PACK UP!

REMICADE® is administered over a period of about 2 hours.

Bring a book, laptop, tablet, or other digital device to help your child pass the time. For some children, a favorite blanket or stuffed toy may help provide comfort.

DRESS UP!

It’s important to dress for the occasion. Make your child’s comfort a priority: dress your child in loose-fitting clothing and layers in case he or she gets too warm or too cold.

DURING YOUR CHILD'S IV INFUSION

When you and your child arrive, a healthcare professional will check your child’s vital signs, ask questions about your child's overall health, and provide you with the Medication Guide to read before each infusion.

A healthcare professional will determine the right amount of medication for your child based on his or her weight and will be there to give your child his or her treatment. Your child's doctor may decide to give your child other medications before starting the REMICADE® infusion to prevent or lessen side effects.

A healthcare professional will check in with your child during your child's infusion. The infusion is given over a period of about 2 hours.

AFTER YOUR CHILD'S IV INFUSION

Your child will be monitored at the doctor’s office or infusion center for a period of time afterward just to make sure your child is not having a reaction, and then he or she will be free to leave. Your child should be able to continue his or her normal schedule, as advised by your child's doctor.

Gather your child's medical history and a list of your child's current medications to bring with you to your child's infusion appointment.
